Hampton scored a season-best 44 points in the first half as they started scorching hot from the field. Davion Warren scored 20 points for Hampton as he was the high scorer for the night. Raymond Bethea Jr. added 11 points for Hampton (10-13, 9-9 Big South Conference), and Chris Shelton totaled 10 points of his own. Dajour Dickens had eight points and three blocks.
DeShaun Wade had 15 points for the Lancers (11-15, 10-10) Juan Munoz added 13 points. Heru Bligen and Zac Watson added 10 points apiece.
It was very surprising to see the Lancers come out so flat at home, but it happens and you can't always expect to play at your best.
The loss snapped a six-game home streak for the Lancers (11-15, 10-10 Big South) as they were an absolute powerhouse at home throughout the season. Hampton on the other hand was on a 3-game slide that unfortunately cost them in the standings but they took care of a must-needed win against an impressive Longwood squad.
In the Big South Tournament #7 seed, Hampton faces off against #10 seed Presbyterian at 2 PM EST on Feb. 27.
The Lancers had a school-record ten Big South wins secure them the No. 5 seed in the Big South Championship, a bye through the tournament's first round, and a quarterfinal matchup at No. 4 seed UNC Asheville Monday at 7 p.m.
